Qatar Entrepreneur Residency Visa 2026 – Eligibility, Documents & Application Guide
Last reviewed: 31 October 2026
Planning to build or grow a startup in Qatar? The Entrepreneur Residency programme offers eligible founders a route to long-term residence, with an important starting requirement: endorsement from a recognised business incubator in Qatar.
This guide from TREK Group Business Services explains the published eligibility criteria, document requirements and application journey, helping you understand what to prepare before approaching the programme.
What Is Qatar Entrepreneur Residency?
Jusour’s current FAQ describes Entrepreneur Residency as a self-sponsored five-year residence permit. Renewal is subject to continued compliance with the eligibility criteria through the incubator.
This programme should not be described as automatic permanent residency. Some online reports mention different durations; this guide follows the current Jusour FAQ. Confirm the term stated in your individual approval documents before making long-term commitments.
Who Can Apply for Qatar Entrepreneur Residency?
Invest Qatar identifies early-stage and growing entrepreneurs endorsed by a local incubator as the programme’s target applicants.
The published requirements include:
- An official endorsement from a recognised business incubator in Qatar.
- A bank statement showing a minimum balance of QAR 36,500, or its equivalent in local currency, over the previous three months.
- A minimum age of 18 years, as stated in the application document requirements.
The overseas applicant checklist separately specifies an attested three-month bank statement with a minimum balance of USD 10,000. Confirm the currency, balance evidence and certification required for your application route before preparing documents.
The bank-balance requirement is financial evidence. It is not a stated government application fee.
Does Opening a Company Automatically Qualify You?
No. A Commercial Registration alone does not satisfy the programme’s incubator-endorsement requirement.
Company registration and Entrepreneur Residency involve different requirements. Owning a business does not remove the need to obtain the endorsement and complete the programme’s application process.
For the company-ownership side, read our 100% foreign ownership company formation guide.
Documents Required for Entrepreneurs Already Living in Qatar
The published resident checklist and Jusour FAQ identify the following documents:
- Qatar ID copy.
- Passport copy.
- A recent personal photograph.
- A stamped bank statement covering three months.
- A CV describing relevant experience.
- An endorsement letter from the local incubator.
- An establishment card.
Check that your name and identity details match across the documents. Ask the nominating incubator which establishment record is required for your case rather than assuming that an unrelated company’s card will be accepted.
Documents Required for Overseas Entrepreneurs
For applicants outside Qatar, the published checklist includes:
- A passport with at least six months’ validity.
- A recent personal photograph.
- A CV describing relevant experience.
- An attested three-month bank statement meeting the stated USD 10,000 minimum balance.
- An attested police clearance certificate.
- An endorsement letter from the local incubator.
Do Overseas Documents Need Attestation?
The programme specifies attestation for the overseas bank statement and police clearance certificate. Authentication involves the issuing entity and the applicable foreign-affairs and Qatar diplomatic authorities.
Confirm the correct attestation route for the issuing country before paying for processing. TREK provides certificate attestation support in Qatar.
How to Apply for Qatar Entrepreneur Residency
The official application journey starts with incubation and nomination.
- Obtain incubator support. The entrepreneur should be incubated through a participating business incubator in Qatar.
- Receive nomination. The incubator nominates the entrepreneur to Jusour with an endorsement letter.
- Receive the application invitation. The entrepreneur receives a notification containing a link to apply.
- Submit the application. Complete the form and upload the required documents.
- Complete the applicable residence steps. Residents receive their QID upon approval. Overseas applicants follow the entrepreneur entry-permit route, then complete medical testing, fingerprinting and QID issuance after arriving in Qatar.
Use the official Invest Qatar Residency Program page to access programme information and application links.
Can Entrepreneur Residency Holders Sponsor Their Family?
Jusour states that family sponsorship is available subject to Ministry of Interior requirements.
Its FAQ identifies parents, spouses and children as first-degree relatives eligible for sponsorship. It does not extend this to a spouse’s parents.
Confirm the documents and conditions applicable to each family member before making relocation arrangements.
Can You Work While Holding Entrepreneur Residency?
Jusour states that employment is possible, but a work permit is still required to initiate an employment contract.
Self-sponsored residence should therefore not be treated as permission to bypass employment procedures.
If you are already employed in Qatar, discuss the proposed sponsorship change with your employer before applying.
What Benefits Does the Programme Offer?
The published programme benefits include:
- Long-term residence with a renewal option.
- Eligible family sponsorship and family visit visa arrangements.
- Domestic-worker sponsorship.
- Asset ownership.
- Incubator support and mentorship.
- Access to participating merchant offers.
Each benefit remains subject to its applicable conditions. For a founder, the practical value may include time to develop the business alongside access to an incubator’s support.
What Are the Fees and Processing Time?
The programme pages reviewed for this article do not provide a complete fixed fee schedule or one guaranteed processing time covering every applicant.
Request current charges and an application-specific estimate through the official channel.
When budgeting, separate any programme charges from document attestation, translation, travel and company-setup costs. Ask for an itemised quotation so you understand what each payment covers.
Checklist Before Applying
- Identify an incubator relevant to your business and confirm its current nomination process.
- Prepare a concise explanation of your product, customers, progress and plans for Qatar.
- Confirm whether you should use the resident or overseas document checklist.
- Check passport validity and the required financial evidence.
- Confirm which documents require attestation.
- Clarify company licensing, family sponsorship and intended employment separately.
- Keep copies of your nomination, submitted documents and official correspondence.
A business summary is a practical preparation suggestion, not an additional universal government-document requirement stated in this guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone outside Qatar apply?
Yes. The programme publishes a separate application journey for overseas entrepreneurs. Incubator endorsement remains part of that route.
Is the minimum bank balance a visa fee?
No. It is presented as a financial-evidence requirement. Obtain separate confirmation of applicable programme charges.
Is this the same as Executive Residency?
No. The entrepreneur route uses incubator endorsement. The executive route has a separate employer-nomination process and eligibility criteria.
Does a Commercial Registration replace the incubator endorsement?
No. Company registration alone does not satisfy the programme’s endorsement requirement.
Can TREK issue the incubator endorsement?
The required endorsement comes from a recognised incubator. TREK’s role is business-setup and documentation support. Nomination and residence approval remain with the relevant programme participants and authorities.
